The Suprema loudspeaker system is undoubtedly the most ambitious project ever crafted by Sonus faber and represents the pinnacle of the 40th anniversary of the brand.
Suprema embodies the natural propensity for groundbreaking solutions from the Sonus faber R&D team. In recent years, this department has birthed a series of structural and technological advancements, all culminating in the creation of Suprema. This project not only represents the highest-performing loudspeaker in Sonus faber's history but also serves as a critical milestone for the R&D team. It acts as a test bench for the creation of a lasting legacy of technical solutions that will define the next generations of Sonus faber products.
The four columns of Suprema were designed starting from the most genuine heritage of the brand. The lute shape for the main columns represents the best solution in ensuring the perfect disappearance of the speaker from the virtual soundstage. The elliptical shape for the two subwoofers is the most suitable for hosting large transducers and energy impact.
Utmost attention has been paid to the Voice of Sonus faber, the configuration of tweeter and midrange, that evolves into a three brand new elements system:
Camelia midrange
The new Camelia midrange, responsible for the most important part of the acoustic spectrum, was developed by the team of electroacoustic engineers to ensure maximum resolution, while maintaining the legendary natural sound of Sonus faber.
The shape of the new membrane, inspired by natural shapes, hence the name camellia, is not circular and is not masked by the suspensions. The wave propagation structure avoids the formation of resonances typical of circular shapes and offers its entire surface to the listener.
The phase-plug applied the new Damping Ring which optimizes the air movement of the driver to reduce turbulence while guiding soundwaves to reinforce their propagation into a more consistent wave pattern at listening distances. The result is a smoother frequency response with higher levels of clarity both on and off axis.
Dual-drive woofers
The dual gap woofer designed by the Sonus faber team is made to guarantee symmetry of the motor force and minimize the distortions intrinsic to a conventional magnetic circuit design.
Equipped with a paper pulp sandwich cone and a surround designed for perfect balance with the needs of the motor action, this woofer has a fast and clean impulse response, offering a unique experience in the reproduction of the low and ultra low.
The ventilated motor is designed to lighten the power compression of the loudspeaker, with the terminal cup made of aluminum which has the dual function of dissipator and guarantee of circuit operation.
