Monitor Audio's best-selling loudspeaker range has just taken its biggest step forward yet. The Silver Series 8G is here — more refined, more considered, and more optimised for total system performance than any Silver generation before it.
Since its introduction, the Silver Series has been the range that proves you don't need to spend a fortune to get real hi-fi performance. Silver 7G raised the bar with its RST II driver technology and new C-CAM tweeter. Now, 8G builds on that foundation with a comprehensive set of engineering upgrades — from the drivers, right through to the cabinet, crossover and even the feet the speakers stand on.
What's new in the 8G tweeter
The signature C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter has been given a thorough once-over, and the result is a noticeably clearer, more open top end. Monitor Audio has improved treble that sounds cleaner and more consistent, however loud you listen. It's also been paired with the latest version of the brand's waveguide design, which spreads high frequencies more evenly around the room — so you get a wider sweet spot, not just a single seat where the sound is at its best.
RST III: the next generation of driver technology
Silver 7G introduced the RST II and 8G moves the game on again with RST III cone geometry across the mid and bass drivers.
The new mid-range driver borrows a Gold 6G-inspired surround and a newly developed progressive spider, paired with an upgraded voice coil and improved venting — all housed in its own dedicated enclosure for cleaner, more focused vocal reproduction.
The bass driver gets the same RST III treatment: increased stiffness, reduced resonance, and an upgraded motor system for greater power handling and lower distortion. On selected models, a larger magnet and optimised magnetic circuit deliver tighter control and a more precise, dynamic sound across the full listening range.
The crossover has also been upgraded with higher-quality capacitors, inductors and resistors throughout, tightening driver integration and delivering a more transparent, coherent soundstage.
Silent Flow ports, inspired by nature
One of the more unexpected pieces of engineering in Silver 8G is the new Silent Flow Port Technology. The ports are larger in diameter and use a flare geometry inspired by the interlocking wing feathers of an owl — the same principle that allows owls to fly almost silently. The result is smoother, quieter airflow through the port, minimising the "chuffing" and turbulence that can compromise bass quality, for deeper, cleaner low frequencies even at higher listening levels.
A stronger cabinet, inside and out
Silver 8G moves from single-bolt to Through-Bolt Technology, securely bracing the drive units to the rear of the cabinet at a specific torque. Combined with rigid internal bracing and targeted damping, it reduces unwanted chassis resonance and panel vibration, improving transient response and overall accuracy.
Even the feet have been redesigned: new outriggers, inspired by the flagship Platinum Series 3G, give a wider and more stable footprint, with a discreet top-adjust levelling mechanism and swappable spikes or integrated rubber feet depending on your floor.
A new finish: Engineered European Walnut
Alongside the familiar High Gloss Black and Satin White, Silver 8G introduces a new European Walnut finish — a real, sustainably engineered wood veneer that delivers the rich grain and colour of exotic timber without harvesting rare or endangered trees.

- Silver 500 8G – the flagship 3-way floorstander, with twin 8-inch bass drivers for commanding scale
- Silver Centre 8G – 3-way centre channel built for dialogue clarity
- Silver On-Wall 8G – slimline 2-way, ideal as an LCR or surround speaker
- Silver AMS 8G – Dolby Atmos-enabled add-on module for immersive height effects
