What is the Powernode Edge?
The Powernode Edge is a compact wireless streaming amplifier from Bluesound. It combines a network music streamer, DAC, and power amp in one unit, so you can connect a pair of passive speakers and have a complete "just add speakers" HiFi system.
How much power does it put out?
It delivers 40 watts x 2 channels using Bluesound's DirectDigital amplification, rated into 8-ohm loads, with 4-ohm speaker compatibility for a wide range of passive speakers.
What's inside it?
It's built around a quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor (1.8GHz per core), which handles the BluOS platform, hi-res decoding, and Bluetooth streaming.
What audio resolution does it support?
It handles hi-res files up to 24-bit/192kHz, along with MQA-encoded tracks.
What inputs and outputs does it have?
- Inputs: a combo optical/analog input for wired sources like a TV or turntable, plus HDMI eARC
- Outputs: a dedicated subwoofer output for bass management
- Note: it has a single analog input, so if you have several wired sources you may need a switcher
Does it support HDMI for TV audio?
Yes — HDMI eARC lets you connect a TV directly for movie and show audio through the same speakers.
Does it have Bluetooth?
Yes, two-way aptX HD Bluetooth, so you can stream to it from a phone or send its audio to Bluetooth headphones.
How does it connect to my network?
Dual-band Wi-Fi and Gigabit Ethernet are both supported.
What streaming services work with it?
Through the BluOS app you get Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, Apple AirPlay 2, Roon Ready support, SiriusXM, and internet radio, plus playback from a network drive or USB hard drive.
Can it be part of a multi-room system?
Yes — it links wirelessly with other BluOS-powered Bluesound speakers to build a whole-home multi-room system, controlled from the BluOS Controller app.
Can I add a subwoofer or build a surround setup?
Yes. The dedicated subwoofer output pairs well with something like the Pulse Sub+ for a 2.1 system, and the Powernode Edge can also be used to power the rear channels of a wireless Bluesound surround setup.
How is it controlled?
Mainly via the BluOS Controller app, with a capacitive touch panel on the unit itself for basic functions. It also supports voice control through Alexa and Siri via Bluesound's Blue Voice feature.
What finishes are available?
Matte black and white.
Does it come with a mounting option?
Yes, a wall-mount bracket is included for tucking it behind a TV or furniture.
How is it different from the standard Powernode?
The Edge is a more compact, lower-power entry point into Bluesound's streaming-amp lineup, while the standard Powernode (2025) offers more power — 100W x 2 stereo or 80W x 3 for LCR configurations. If you need to drive larger speakers or want extra headroom, the standard Powernode is the step up.
