Dynavector DV XX2-A MC Phono Cartridge

Special Annealing Magnetic Circuit

To ensure optimal output, it is imperative that the magnetic flux maintains high density and stability. However, the processing of metal parts often distorts the crystal structure at the atomic level, leading to a loss of magnetic permeability.

Magnetic annealing, a process of heating and cooling processed parts, is crucial for restoring the distorted metal crystal structure and regenerating magnetic permeability. Dynavector have focused on finding the best magnetic annealing process, including temperature, environment, duration, and heating and cooling rates. This meticulous approach has enabled them to unleash the full potential of pure iron's unique magnetic performance.

The new magnetic circuit has significantly enhanced sound quality, delivering unrivalled resolution, smooth wide-range expression, and expansive sound field. Experience the natural and dynamic sound of the Dynavector XX-2A cartridge, where an exceptional vibration system harmonises seamlessly with an optimised magnetic circuit.

Low-Output MC Cartridge

With an output voltage of 0.28mV, the XX-2A conforms to the general level for MC cartridges, making it compatible with various amplifiers and transformers including the SUP-200. With a recommended load impedance of more than 30 ohms that ensures suitability for different load settings, including 47k ohms (phono stage input).

Solid Boron Cantilever

The XX-2A is equipped with a 6mm length solid boron cantilever, coupled with a PathFinder (PF) line contact stylus, creating a lightweight and rigid vibration system for enhanced playback accuracy.

Free Turntable setup

We carefully set up every turntable and cartridge we sell. So if you're new to turntables or have decades of experience, you know you'll be getting the most enjoyment from your system. You can be safe in the knowledge that you can take your turntable home, plug it straight in and start enjoying good music without any worry of something being setup incorrectly.

Who is this for?

Who is this for?

The XX2-A is crafted for the dedicated vinyl enthusiast who has moved beyond entry-level equipment and is ready to hear what their collection can truly deliver. If you're spinning records through a quality turntable like a Rega Planar 6 or Pro-Ject X2, paired with a proper MC phono stage and amplification that can reveal fine detail, this cartridge will reward your investment. You know the difference between adequate and exceptional, and you're seeking that next level of musical engagement without entering five-figure territory.

This moving coil design thrives in medium to large listening rooms where its dynamic scale and three-dimensional soundstaging can properly develop. You'll want amplification delivering at least 50 watts into quality speakers—the XX2-A has the resolution to expose weaknesses in modest systems, but it absolutely sings when partnered with components that can keep pace. Think integrated amplifiers from Naim, Hegel, or similar, driving speakers with refined treble response and controlled bass.

You're the listener who appreciates technical excellence but ultimately cares about emotional connection to music. You've likely owned several cartridges already, understand the importance of proper setup and alignment, and you're willing to invest in professional installation or have developed the skills yourself. Whether you're rediscovering classic jazz, exploring contemporary pressings, or finally hearing your Neil Young collection as it was meant to sound, the XX2-A delivers the kind of transparent, musically coherent performance that makes late-night listening sessions extend far longer than planned.
