One of the P1’s key strengths is its versatility. Alongside its network streaming capabilities, it includes a full suite of digital and analogue inputs, including HDMI ARC for direct TV integration. This allows it to sit at the centre of a system, seamlessly handling music streaming, television audio, and external source components without the need for additional switching hardware.

The P1 also supports Roon Ready, TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify Connect, AirPlay, TuneIn, and high-resolution PCM and DSD playback, ensuring effortless access to virtually every major music platform. Stream from anywhere

The LUMIN range is all about streaming music and as you'd expect, all models support the Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect services. High-resolution streaming comes to LUMIN players courtesy of Tidal and Qobuz streaming services. Tidal has been available in NZ for some time and many of our clients already use it. It offers a large library of CD quality streaming (approx 70 million songs..!) and around 23,000 albums in MQA high resolution. More recent to NZ is Qobuz, which boasts a catalogue of over 70,000 albums, 22,000 of which being high-resolution with up to 24-bit 192kHz resolution. Our initial listening tests revealed its sound quality, particularly on high res content to be superb.

Apple AirPlay is also supported so you're free to stream virtually anything from your iPhone, iPad or Mac through your LUMIN player.

If you have a collection of digital music, either purchased via websites like Bandcamp, HD Tracks or Qobuz, or ripped from your own CD collection, the LUMIN streamers will help you get the best from these files. They'll play music in any format (including DSD), stored on either a hard drive that's connected directly to a LUMIN, or via a network storage device like the LUMIN L1 or 3rd party NAS drive.

Who is this for?

The Lumin P1 is aimed at listeners who want to simplify a serious high-end system without sacrificing flexibility or performance. Rather than being “just” a streamer, it acts as the digital and analogue control centre for an entire system—combining streaming, DAC, pre-amplification, and HDMI integration into a single beautifully engineered component.

I very much enjoyed my time with Lumin's P1. Not only is it a superb-sounding D/A processor, but its transparent-sounding analog inputs and full video functionality are a welcome bonus. The Lumin app proved to be an excellent means of controlling the P1.

The fact that it looks and sounds so striking, works so seamlessly with its control app, and has all the flexibility most could ever want, means it’s an attractive buy. But above all, it’s the addictive sound, from electropop to full orchestral force – and everything in between – that seals the deal.
