At its core, the X1 uses a fully balanced, dual-mono DAC design built around ultra-high-performance components and Lumin’s most advanced clocking and processing architecture. This is supported by a separate external linear power supply, physically isolating the noisy power section from the audio circuitry. The result is an exceptionally low noise floor, allowing music to emerge with striking clarity, depth, and natural spatial definition.

One of the defining features of the X1 is its use of fibre network input alongside standard Ethernet, providing complete electrical isolation from network noise. This helps preserve micro-detail and timing precision, creating a darker background from which the music can unfold with greater realism and ease.

Stream from anywhere

The X1 supports native playback of high-resolution PCM and DSD formats, including PCM up to 384kHz and DSD up to DSD256. It also offers full compatibility with major streaming platforms including Roon Ready, TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify Connect, AirPlay, TuneIn, and MQA decoding, ensuring effortless access to both local libraries and global streaming services.

Sonically, the X1 is about refinement without restraint. It delivers extraordinary detail retrieval, but never at the expense of musical flow. Instruments are placed with precision and stability, vocals feel natural and present, and complex recordings remain effortless and composed even at high levels of resolution.

The chassis is beautifully engineered from solid aluminium, with a focus on rigidity and vibration control. Combined with its external power supply, the physical design reflects the same philosophy as its sound—absolute attention to detail and long-term performance stability.

If you have a collection of digital music, either purchased via websites like Bandcamp, HD Tracks or Qobuz, or ripped from your own CD collection, the LUMIN streamers will help you get the best from these files. They'll play music in any format (including DSD), stored on either a hard drive that's connected directly to a LUMIN, or via a network storage device like the LUMIN L1 or 3rd party NAS drive.

All LUMIN network players are certified as Roon ready, which means they'll drop right into your existing setup if you're a Roon user.
