Slim & compact floorstanding speakers

Capable of delivering levels of bass extension and detail normally only found in the largest of floorstanding loudspeakers, the Platinum 200 3G is a capable of providing an exceptionally large soundstage from a relatively diminutive form. The new MPD III transducer and RDT III mid-range and bass driver cones have refined the overall balance of the speaker and reduced distortion, while also allowing it to deliver an exceptional room-filling performance. It also benefits from a new cast outrigger and crossover mounted plinth assembly.

Elegant construction

Platinum Series has always represented Monitor Audio’s engineering and design prowess and the 3rd generation is no exception. Our UK-based design team worked closely with our acoustic engineers to deliver an aesthetic that celebrates the high-performance components without overpowering its surroundings.

The cabinet design on Platinum Series 3G is all new. Beautifully detailed and expertly crafted, our industry-leading attention to detail and passion for quality ensures that each cabinet is elegant and refined on the eyes, while being engineered for total acoustic performance.

Constructed using laminated layers of MDF to form a curved and braced super rigid 18-21mm cabinet on the rear with a 36mm thick baffle precision machined to create a unique curved front profile. The cabinets are then embellished with etched inlays to highlight the craftsmanship, before 16 layers of lacquer are added on top to create a beautiful, luxury piano gloss finish. A pure satin matte finish is applied to models finished in white - a contemporary statement in any interior.

'Concept 50 technology'

Platinum Series 3G builds on two generations of loudspeaker design, which has consistently evolved at each step. New MPD III high frequency transducer helps to reduce distortion and flatten the frequency response leading to a clear and consistent sound across all your music.

The Rigid Diaphragm Technology III (RDT III) cone has three new optimisations over its predecessor. Firstly, a new rear layer featuring two uniform layers of carbon fibre skin helps reduce cone breakup, as does an optimised rubber surround. Finally, a cone edge treatment extends the passband of the drivers. When combined, these innovations significantly increase the useable bandwidth, enabling improvements to the crossover and final response of the speaker. The result: Platinum 3G mid and bass drivers boast the lowest distortion of any Monitor Audio speaker in its history.

Who is this for?

It has large, yet not overwhelming dimensions, it provides pleasure in a smaller room and relatively close, but it can show its true self in a larger space, where it is capable of top-class music reproduction at room volume and above.
